MINING

Our Plants

We have been able to take advantage of our prime location in the Caribbean to meet the needs of both domestic and international markets.

We are located in close proximity to the Port of Ocho Rios, which provides easy access to the export market. Locally, we are able to minimize transportation costs to deliver a more affordable product to our customers.

Our Sustainable Outlook

Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of calcium carbonate. It is Jamaica's most important naturally occurring building material and is available in abundance - billions of tons across the island with enough reserves to last hundreds of years.

Providing Alternatives

Lydford exports limestone sand which is an environmentally friendly alternative to the mining of river sand for construction purposes - using limestone protects river courses and prevents land erosion.

Innovating for the Present and the Future

In 2018, we opened the doors of our newest plant. Among the products processed in that plant is our manufactured sand which can be used for beach ‘re-nourishment’ and beach creation. With the long-shore drift occurring along Jamaica’s coastline, this locally produced sand is delivered at an affordable cost to developers to aid in the rehabilitation of our shores.

Our Environmental Promise

As a part of our environmental commitment, we are dedicated to meet all local standards. This includes regulations around surface mining. Though we may only have a small footprint, we are prepared to restore any land that we mine by preparing it for the construction of houses.
