Lydford Mining Company was the first exporter of pharmaceutical grade limestone to the United States. Many years later we achieved another first by exporting manufactured limestone sand. We use environmentally sustainable mining practices to deliver high quality limestone products from the gem of the Caribbean to the world.
Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of calcium carbonate. It is Jamaica's most abundant, naturally occurring building material - billions of tons across the island provide enough reserves to last hundreds of years.
Providing Alternatives
Lydford exports limestone sand, an environmentally friendly alternative to the mining of river sand. The use of manufactured limestone sand is a sustainable mining practice as it eliminates the risk of over-mining the river beds and consequent land erosion.
Innovating for the Present and the Future
In 2018, we opened the doors of our newest plant. Among the products processed in that plant is a high-strength, washed construction grade aggregate. These internationally accredited aggregates have been used in many large construction projects including the Montego Bay airport renovation project.

We are located in the birth parish of Reggae legend Bob Marley, St. Ann. Lydford is ideally positioned geographically and experience-wise for exceptional and sustainable growth.

The limestone products all meet international specifications. The food and pharmaceutical grade products follow the Good Manufacturing Practice required by our customers. Our construction grade products all meet ASTM specifications for high quality concrete and roadwork.
